“ And even the most difficult of Daniela’s treatments are a little easier to face. That’s because of Daisy. ”

Life was a lot different before Daisy arrived. Daniela was in the middle of the hardest days anyone could imagine – diagnosed with leukemia before her seventh birthday, all the trips to the hospital, even losing her hair.

But the worst days are behind. And even the most difficult of Daniela’s treatments are a little easier to face.

That’s because of Daisy. You wouldn’t believe how much of a difference a Yorkshire terrier puppy can make for a kid like Daniela.

The transformation started with a visit from Make-A-Wish® volunteers. They offered her the chance to make any wish. Just like that, Daniela had a promise of something good in her future – the promise of her own puppy.

Months later, Daniela returned home from a walk with her aunt and uncle. She found her house full of unexpected visitors – and one new member of the family … four-month-old Daisy.

That afternoon, Daisy became Daniela’s reason to stay strong during her treatments. Daniela is determined to enjoy every day with Daisy, who is a source of never-ending happiness.

Daniela still works hard to get better. But with every month that passes, she needs a little less medical attention. And that means more time for Daisy – and more time to be a regular kid once again.

Daniela, I have a yorkshire terrier named Daisy, too! She is 4 years old and is the light of my life. Daisy was there to help me through some tough times as well. When both of my grandmothers passed away, I was really sad. Daisy would always know when I was sad and would just come and lay with me. She is like my baby! I am glad you got your wish, Daniela!

Daniela.....I can certainly relate to your story. I have to totally agree with you that there is nothing like a Yorkshire Terrier Puppy to help you get better. I have been sick for years now with a seizure disorder, a blood disorder called ITP which is lack of platelets and many things.....However, I was blessed with a friend that got me a yorkie after my other one passed away and I have started to get better. there is something about them that I have never seen in another dog. I love the fact that they are dander free and don't shed. To cuddle with Precious is a good time in my day....Keep up the positive work that you are doing and keep on getting better..Blessings and God Bless, Bonnie

I worked briefly with Make-a-Wish years ago, and had not heard stories like this about Wish Kids and pets. I think it's a particularly beautiful wish, because it's about both giving and receiving unconditional love. All pets (especially puppies!) have so much love to give, and I believe it can create magic.
